Patients visiting from out with the area for a period of less than 3 months and who become unwell, are entitled to be seen and registered as a temporary resident. This will allow you to be on our practice list temporarily and still remain a patient with your permanent GP. Temporary residents are seen by the GP only if they have become acutely unwell. Any concerns regarding long term health issues or repeat medication requests will have to be made by the patient to their permanent GP.
You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered. Your temporary address whilst in Inverness, must also be within our practice boundary for you to be able to register here as a temporary patient.
We will require you to complete a temporary resident registration form in order to register as a temporary patient.
If you only require a supply of your regular medication and you are normally resident in Scotland, it may be possible to obtain this from a local pharmacy or for the pharmacist may contact your usual GP directly to arrange medications. Please go to a local pharmacy first before trying to register with the practice.
Please be aware that we will need proof that you are taking the medications you are requesting. If you are able to give up the packaging the medication came in then please hand it over to reception.
If you are permanently registered with a GP practice in the UK we will need you to contact your current medical practice and request a medical summary, including a list of your medications and have this emailed to the following address: nhsh.gp55893-reception@nhs.scot
Without the summary we will be unable to process any prescription requests for temporary patients who are UK residents
